Purity: What does it really mean?
To be pure is to be blameless before God. It is to remain Holy and faithful. It is to live a life untainted by the world. Easy? No. Possible? All things are with Christ aren't they? YES! Absolutely yes! However, this path to purity can only be obtained by practicing persistence. When we foolishly go against God's commands and turn around in the wrong direction --even still, God's grace is sufficient. Meaning, we are never to far gone for the Lord to pick us up, dust us off and help us start again. Unless of course we deny Him and his ways and choose living wicked lives, serving Satan and thrusting ourselves into worldly passions but that doesn't sound like very much fun now does it? Not in the light of God's beautiful, blameless, pure lovely and glorious life He has for the believer.
Now let us look at Matthew 5:8 which reads:
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."
When you think of "PURE" what is the first word that pops into your mind?
Holy, blameless, faithful, true, undefiled, whole, sweet, natural; all of these words could be used to describe being pure, showing purity, or becoming purified. When I think of pure I like to think of honey. Stick with me. Honey fresh out of the comb, sweet, natural, PURE. Pure, honey. This reminds me of the verse in the beloved Psalm 119:103 which reads:
"How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!"
I want to end with this, friends, it is all to easy to be lead off the straight and narrow. Gird yourself with a willing heart. Guard your heart with truth. And daily, step into the light of God's love, mercy and peace by not being afraid to diligently seek Him, and with a sincere and broken Spirit --following Him and be ever so willing to obey His every command.
So what is purity then? The one true example of that my friends, can only be found in the savory aroma of the precious, powerful and Holy word of God.
